Windows Server 2008 (Standard)
Server
· Windows Server 2008 includes built-in virtualization tools, Web resources, and security enhancements that help save
operating
time, reduce costs, and provide a platform for a dynamic and optimized environment.

· Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, also referred to as Terminal Services--a feature of Windows Server 2008--
presents users with the individual applications and data they require to complete their task, or the whole remote
desktop.
· With Terminal Services, customers are able to install and manage applications (such as Microsoft® Office) on a
centralized server, delivering the screen images to the end users. The user's client machine, in turn, sends keystrokes
and mouse movements back to the server.
Windows Server 2008 Foundation
For smal businesses with up to 15 users, Windows Server 2008 Foundation (available in most countries), Microsoft's
entry-level business server, is a multi-functional workload solution. It delivers cost-effective, easy-to-deploy, proven, and
reliable technology that can provide organizations with the foundation to run the most prevalent business applications,
as well as share information and resources.
Applications
Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office is a software suite that helps enable users to quickly and easily create great-looking documents,

Licensing Microsoft solutions in multi-user computing scenarios
In a multi-user environment, Windows Server runs at the host computer. A Windows Server client access license (CAL) and a Terminal
Services CAL is required for each accessing user or device. Microsoft desktop applications (such as Microsoft Office) are licensed on a per-
device basis. This license must match the suite/edition, components, language, and version of the copy of the application being accessed.
Properly licensing your server and desktop applications will help ensure that you can take full advantage of the support options available
under your licensing agreement.
Note: The Windows PC desktop client operating system (e.g., Windows Vista®, Windows® XP, etc.) license terms do not permit multiple users
to simultaneously access or otherwise use a single licensed copy of the software.
